Weekly Weigh-Ins and Works For Me

Week 3, 9/26/08: -2 lbs. I know, I know, everyone always says Good Job, but I have to admit that I am really disappointed that it is not more. I mean, what the heck? I am working SO HARD at exercising and eating right and I am only down a total of 4.8 lbs in THREE weeks? Ugh. I should be at my goal weight by the time I am 40 at this rate. The only thing that gives me a little pleasure is that I can totally notice a difference in my muscles.

Things that worked for me this week:

*I cut out the Diet Coke. Haven’t had any since Sunday. AMAZING difference in my hunger/craving level. Seriously. I am not giving up the coffee though.

*The tomato basil wraps I wrote about last week? Try them with 4 Schwans boneless buffalo chicken pieces (warm) and lettuce and a dash of reduced fat cheese. Delicious.

Week 2,
9/19/08: +1.4 lbs. What?! Are you kidding me? I have been working my ass off EVERY weekday at the gym, doing good at WW… and I GAIN weight? Obviously, I am hugely disappointed. I can shake it off this week, but I better have a huge loss next week. The only thing I can think of to explain it, is it is almost THAT time and I always gain weight the week before.

Things that worked for me this week:

*Megan found these tomato basil wrap things at Walmart near the deli and they are only one point. And yummy!

*Songs that get me through my workout:
*Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers, Islands in the Stream. Don’t laugh. I love Dolly.
*Anything with Nelly Furtado or Timbaland.
*Monster Magnet, Space Lord.
*The Offspring, Hammerhead
*The Charlie Daniel’s Band, Devil Went Down to Georgia

Week 1
, 9/12/08: -3.8 lbs. It was a short week, but I am down 3.8 from Monday. I am happy with that. I busted my ass at the gym this week and have done well with Weight Watchers except for Monday. I was dragging a little at the gym today, but I guess that is to be expected on day 5 in a row my first week. I am relieved to have two days off from working out however! ;o)

Things that worked for me this week:

*At the end of my cardio workouts when I just want to be done, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” by Kylie Minogue and “Hung Up” by Madonna help me pick up the pace and dig down deep for the energy to get me through it.

*Schwan’s Tomato Basil pizzas. YUMMY. And only 4 points.

*Having a PBJ on Sara Lee 45-calorie delightful bread and salad with a boiled egg or two for lunch. I’m usually hungry. ALL the time. This helps curb my appetite. Must be the protein.

*Trying to not eat after supper and if I have a glass of wine or a beer, I stop at one. Control, Melissa, Control.

3.8 pounds is excellent! Good job Melissa. It’s hard work, but worth it. Enjoy your weekend. :)

  • BecauseImTheMommy

FANTASTIC! I also enjoyed reading your workout log. I am gym-phobic. I haven’t been since I was 20 years old. If I could do everything in the water I would. Sadly, it’s impossible and I’m signing up next week. UGH!

  • Megan

Great job Lis! I am up 1.4 which I find TOTALLY unfair. I have several theories for why I gained, at least next week I should have a nice loss. I hope. Blah.

  • Christie O.

awesome awesome awesome! high fives all around!

  • Erin

Good Job!!! I want to try those pizzas!!

  • Sandi

Congrats on the weight loss! You lost more than me this week but you better watch out next week…what am I saying, you will probably lose more than me again.
    hmmph!

  • Alice Jane

That is AWESOME! I love weight watchers. It really works. Good job at the gym. Keep it up!

  • Christy M.

Way to go!!! What an excellent first week. You should be SO proud of your gym accomplishments. It’s so hard to start a diet and hit the gym. My major downfall is after dinner snacking too. It’s so hard for me.

Thanks for sharing your week with us.

  • Ricki Ford

Great job I like to snack while I am watching tv. Not good huh?

  • Vodka Mom

Went to the gym this morning. Made sure I broke a sweat. Just had a bowl of ice cream and totally crossed out the exercise. Can’t you come over and help me??

  • Two blessings from above

Great job! They say once you start working out you gain some because muscle weighs more then fat. I still have not been to the gym. I am getting my walks in everyday so I guess that is a good thing.
    Have a nice weekend.

  • roxymommy

Remember, dear, that while you are burning fat at the gym you are also gaining muscle! The scale shouldn’t mean as much as how your clothes fit. Hang in there, it’s worth it!

  • The Epps Family

Muscle weighs more than fat, remember!! Keep up the good work!

It sucks doesn’t it? Guys go on diets and lose major weight right away. It takes forever for girls to lose. It adds up though, before you know it you will be at that 10 lb. mark. I need to live somewhere where it is summer all year. Here in Minnesota it is so easy to throw a huge coat on in the winter to cover everything up. Then the spring hits and it is like what the hell happened over the winter. Well good luck I wish I was as focused as you.

  • Vodka Mom

just had three pieces of pizza and a up of depression. crap.

  • Christie O.

i know you’re disappointed (i know how you feel — i obsessively worked out this week and just dropped one) but seriously, 2 pounds is perfect!! they will add up in no time, trust me! it just feels like forever right now but i swear it will! you’re doing awesome!

  • Christy M.

Hey girl! Congrats on your loss. I know how you feel about wanting it to come off faster, especially when you’re working so hard! You have to remember that you’re gaining muscle mass with all the working out you’re doing (way to go with that!!) and muscle weighs more than fat.

You should be so proud of all your hard work and determination. I know I’m proud of you.

  • The Krumwiede Six

    Good Job Lissa!!!
