*Updated* Seventh Generation GIVEAWAY!

*Updated* The winner is Cheryl! Congrats!
School is going to be starting very, VERY soon (eek! I am so not ready) and we all know that along with back-to-school, comes germs and illnesses. Did you know as many as as many as 2.7 million bacterial found per square inch on common school surfaces (NSF International). Just thinking about that statistic makes me nauseated.

We can’t protect our children from all these germs, but we can teach them about proper hand-washing and covering their mouths and noses when sneezing, as well as making sure they are getting adequate nutrition and physical fitness to keep those bodies in tip-top form.

Seventh Generation offers a disinfecting product line that is made from botanical ingredients and kills 99.99%* of household germs. I love that the products are free from that harsh-chemical stench. The multi-surface spray met my cleaning needs and smelled fresh. I am very sensitive to smells of air-fresheners and cleaners, and I am very picky in regards to what I use.

And now, I have a Seventh Generation back-to-school kit for one of you! It contains a cute little bag, 2 canisters of disinfecting wipes (one for you, one for your child’s classroom), spray, paper towels, and tissue! To enter, answer this question: What do you do to keep your children as healthy and germ-free as possible?

*Kills over 99.99% of household germs, specifically Salmonella enterica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Influenza A on hard, nonporous surfaces.

I'd love to say I keep my kids healthy because I do such a great job at keeping my house clean and germ free. but that would be a lie. So I'm going to guess that we stay pretty healthy because of a combo of good genes, healthy food and good sleep routines.

    I follow your blog.

Healthy? Good food. Exercise. Force-fed water even when they aren't interested in drinking. When someone gets sick, I do get out the disinfecting wipes and wipe down surfaces like the light switches, walls, and other places commonly touched.

Also, I don't spotless my house and scrub it with Clorox. A little healthy germy environment can help build a stronger immunity.

And you know I'd totally follow you anywhere. (At least on your blog. And maybe not into the depths of a North Dakota winter, but just about anywhere else.)

My kids are grown up, but I hope I gave them the fundamentals to being healthy and happy while they were here. I do agree with Kirsten that a few germs are a healthy thing. You can't keep your kids in a bubble. Germs help build up their immunities.

I've been following you for a long time. By the way, where are we going?

  • Amy

To keep my boy healthy, I encourage lots of hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes at home and out in the world.

I am following you on GFC

  • Erin

Wash hands a lot, try not to stay up super late past bedtime, and we eat pretty healthy most of the time!

  • Jessica

I'm really bad about washing my own hands, but pretty good about reminding the kids to wash up as soon as they get home from school!

Oh girl how I need this after my week-o-germs/ER/doctor visits! I thought we were pretty good about being germ free, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, washing lots, no shoes in house, wipe down of surfaces etc., but my baby got something (the Docs still don't know how it started), his little body fought it (he's such a fighter!) and then KEPT fighting! Fighting so much, his own immune system attacked his capilaries, making him pool blood in his hands, feet and bottom!! Scary business! Now I get to take him to twice weekly doctor appointments for who knows how long and he needs to be checked for a YEAR!! TMI. Would it have been better if I just wrote, "We wash our hands a lot." ?
