This little boys just melts my heart. He is barely seven years old, yet he is on a mission to do good and change the world.
When I told him a few weeks ago that I was going to do an Out of the Darkness walk to honor the daughter of a friend of mine, he decided he would do it with me. We registered online and he said he wanted to raise $50 for suicide prevention awareness. His twin brother found out and decided to sign-up too and raise $75. Together, in one day, they raised $315!
Last week, as we were sitting by each other, he told me he that a lot of countries think Americans are selfish. Then he added that he was going to start saving all his money to bring people clean drink water on every continent, except Antarctica and starting with his first $100 going to Africa.
I posted this on Facebook and Twitter and my friends were so impressed that they sent him money to help encourage him. Let me just tell you, he was a little excited when he received two envelopes in the mail on Tuesday.
Tuesday night, we decided that this charity is an excellent fit for his mission. Then I cried when he told me that instead of Christmas presents this year, he wants people to donate. Yesterday, he came home from school and the first words out of his mouth were, “I can’t wait for Christmas!”
This is my baby. My baby with a big heart and big dreams.
If you want to help him help bring clean water to villages and communities that desperately need it, this is his site: http://mycharitywater.org/scorpions. Can’t donate now? Spread the word by adding this button to your blog or website, pretty please. The code is over there ———–>.
