Baby Tesher

When my friend Amy asked me to take baby photos for her, I said yes immediately. Hello! BABY! I love babies! And then I thought, WAIT. I’ve never photographed a baby before. Crap. The day came, I cranked my heat to 80 and created backdrops by turning my furniture at weird angles in my living room in front of our big picture window. I envisioned a sleepy baby that would handle posing and fiddling and never wake up. Bahahaha! First off, let me say that Tesher is one of the cutest babies ever. He is totally squeezable and ohmygoodness that hair! Secondly, I clearly had no clue. The baby slept all of maybe ten minutes during our few hours together? Please note, that he fell asleep after the shoot and slept the entire time while we went out to eat. Nevertheless, he was perfect and beautiful and I was able to get some awesome shots! I hope you love them, Amy! Thanks for letting me play with your sweet little bebe!

you capture: top 10 of 2011

Is it bad that I still have hundreds (or thousands) of photos from 2011 to go through and edit? I may get to it by 2018 at the rate I’m going. I loved going through my files looking for my favorites. Reminds me that there was much beauty in 2011, no matter how hard of a year it was! I couldn’t just pick ten, so bear with me.

My favorite photos of 2011:

to our water angel

I tell him that someone anonymously donated $500 to his Clean Water for Christmas project during the night’s sleep. He falls to the floor in shock and disbelief.

smiles. tears. lots of hugs.

overwhelming feelings of gratitude and love.

That $500? Will bring 25 more people safe drinking water, but oh so much more. TWENTY-FIVE children will have a greater chance at life. They will have the opportunity to grow and learn and pass on love and generosity. It’s so much more than just money. It’s LIFE. That’s like the twins’ entire classroom of 3rd graders being given a brighter future.

The sky is a little bit more blue today.

The sun a little bit warmer.

Thank you, secret water angel. Thank you.

Thanks to all of you for every kind word shared, every dollar donated, and every ounce of encouragement to my little boy. Our hearts are growing bigger by the day, and there are no words that can express our gratitude.

Merry, MERRY Christmas.

you capture {festive}

I simply cannot believe that it’s December 22nd already! Just this morning, we loaded up the truck {and trailer!} and sent Justin, Kane, the dog, and two cats to work. The kids still in school, the other cat, and I will follow tomorrow or the next day. How we are all going to fit in our tiny little home-at-work is beyond me.

This is the warmest Christmas in North Dakota that I ever remember. There are only a few remnants of snow from a brief flurry we received a few weeks ago. North Dakota. Not a white Christmas. Pure Crazy!

Our youngest little man is swearing off Christmas presents for the 2nd year in a row! Last year, he raised $5,622 for charity: water, and a clean water well is currently being built in Ethiopia! How awesome is that? This year, his goal is TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Bridger currently stands at $1,317 raised for people desperately in need of water. Did you know that a child will die every 15 SECONDS due to a lack of safe water? If you want to help Bridger change that statistic, you can donate on his secure web page, just click on the photo below!

Flipping Out

I saw this mitten garland on the Land of Nod website and fell in love. I swear, I turn instantly happy every time I see it!

it takes a village.

This boy.

This little, blue-eyed boy with a BIG heart.

He steals MY heart.

His wish this Christmas is not for an iPod, Pokemon, or Legos. The one item on his Christmas list?

To raise $10,000 for clean, safe water for 500 people.

It takes a village, friends.

Can you help?

Will you help? Will you share his story on your blog, on Facebook, and through email? Or place a Pig with a Purpose at the center of your family gatherings this week?

Let’s harness the power of OUR VILLAGE to help another village thrive. We can do this, I know it.

Anderson Snow Bowl 2011

It was the perfect day for the first annual Anderson Snow Bowl 3-on-3 tournament!

Don’t be jealous of my cornstalk overalls. They’re pretty hot.

Averie, Bridger, and I versus Justin, Kane, and Ashton.

Bamboo vs. Outlaws.

It was fierce competition from the get-go.

Not really.

I think my teammates were more interested in eating snow than getting the football into the endzone.

The Outlaws prevailed.

Better watch out. We’ll get you next year.

water = life. clean water for Christmas.

more than us

Ignore the bedhead and the momfail sugary cereal… HE DID IT!

We woke up this morning to a notification that Ashton had reached his goal!

$1,040 raised to bring safe water to villages in Ethiopia!

The smile on his face and beaming eyes? Priceless.

Way to go, buddy! I am so proud of you!

Thank you to all of you that encourage and love on my boys!

Clean Water for Christmas.

my girl

she’s a complete goofball,
she makes funny faces and can make anyone laugh,
she dances when she does everything,
and i mean anything… cleaning the litterbox, sweeping the floor, hugging me goodnight.
i giggle to myself when i catch her walking on her tippy toes,
she has been doing this since she was very young.

melt heart.

Oh my goodness. He kills me. Could he possibly be any cuter in his choir uniform?

fiesta! {tea collection giveaway}

Have you heard about Tea? I’m not talking about the drink, I mean the world-inspired clothing line offered here. The fashion collections are inspired by world travels and culture. The styles for Fall 2011 are modeled after modern Mexico.

This was my first experience with clothing from Tea, and I am super-impressed with the not only the design of the pieces, but also the quality. You know how rough and rowdy 8-year-old boys can be, and I have TWO of them, so clothing that will endure on a daily basis is definitely a plus!

Tea gave us the opportunity to choose some pieces from their current line, just in time for back-to-school! The clothing arrived a few days ago, and I am in love. After football practice last night, the {sweaty} boys and I had an impromptu photo shoot in their new duds.

Let’s begin with the Long Sleeve Purity Tees, cute on their own or layered under short-sleeved shirts!

The striped, yarn-dyed Cinco Senses Hoodie? My favorite. Times two.

Both of the above pieces are perfect for layering under tees, too. We stocked up on the short-sleeved shirts found in the sale section of the site, from the Catalonia summer line. I may have went above and beyond my allotted amount and dug into my own pockets, but these shirts were just so FITTING for the twins. They HAD to have them. *cough*

Last but not least, I had to purchase this adorable little dress for a friend’s baby. I haven’t sent it to her yet, so shhhhhh…

Want to try out the clothing from Tea for yourself {yes, they have a women’s line!} or your children? You can WIN a $50 gift certificate! Simply check out Tea Collection and leave a comment here telling me one of your favorite pieces!

Extra entries, leave comments for each:

I will randomly choose a winner on Monday, September 4th, 2011! Good luck!

Tea Collection provided me with a gift certificate to purchase clothing, as well as a $50 gift certificate to giveaway. Giveaway open to US residents only, sorry. The opinions are mine, as always.
