grocery shopping from the kids’ perspective

Christie O. had a fun project posted at The Sisterhood over the weekend… if you asked your kids what is on your grocery list, what would they say? Would you be embarrassed and hide your head in shame? Maybe you could slip them a dollar if they mention fruits and veggies? Ahem. Not that I would EVER do that.

I told my kids to grab a pencil and paper, had them sit down with instructions to not discuss with each other, and write down 10-15 things they thought are typically on the grocery list and are things that we buy pretty much weekly. Then I cringed while I waited for their responses.

  • milk
  • apples
  • beans
  • oranges
  • yogurt
  • cereal
  • pop-tarts {shit, you caught me}
  • bananas
  • ritz crackers
  • laughing cow cheese
  • carrots
  • cheese-its
  • goldfish

Not so bad. Actually, I was quite surprised. I slipped him a five and he went on about his business.

  • milk
  • yogurt
  • cheese
  • bread
  • apples
  • oranges
  • cheez-its {clearly they love their cheeze-its? i recently found a homemade version on pinterest that i’m going to give a try}
  • chips
  • lettuce
  • bananas

This kid’s list was clearly worth a bit more than his twin’s.

And last, Averie:

  • milk
  • cereal
  • oranges
  • pop-tarts
  • eggs
  • chicken
  • beef
  • yogurt
  • candy {obviously, she is just trying to get me in trouble}
  • chocolate chips {she’s mad because I made her dust the living room}
  • bread
  • carrots
  • apples
  • butter
  • popcorn

You can totally tell she was just making stuff up, right? I mean, really.

What would your kids reveal if you had them do this project?

you can’t go wrong with purple.

My purchases from Target today. Totally normal, right?

Who doesn’t love purple shoes.

My twins are raising money for charity: water, and would be so happy if you could help:
Ashton’s Thrilling Drilling Campaign
Bridger’s Clean Water for Christmas Campaign

How often do you smile? Are your teeth sparkly and white?

Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express strips can help. They remove surface stains from your teeth in just two hours, creating a whiter, brighter smile!

Stay tuned as I put the Crest strips to the test.

My before shot:

Could definitely have a whiter smile, you know, if I didn’t love my coffee so much. I would love to say I’m whitening form some exciting event happening in the near future, but let’s face it, my life is anything but exciting lately. My world revolves around cleaning, cooking, and running my butt off between volleyball, football, dance, and choir. I’m lucky if I change my sweatpants on a daily basis.

Watch for my after shot coming next week {and a giveaway}!

You can find coupons for the Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express strips here.

Disclosure: I was given this product for free to review as part of the Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips campaign hosted by One2One Network. I am also eligible for additional compensation. All opinions are my own, as always!

and they’re off…

Today marked the beginning of another school year…

I expected to be jumping for joy at having some time to myself,

but it is a melancholy sort of day.

Ashton was almost “too cool” this morning to take his photo in front of the school. Then his twin happily agreed, so he trudged over.

Bridger told me that if I could just go to school with him so he could see me all day long, it would be perfect.

Averie’s nerves were going full-speed. She’s a big middle-school deal now. Luckily, one of her bffs came over early, and I took them to school together. Two girls facing the unknown is better than one.

On a sidenote, I have accomplished more today than I have in ages. :)

100% Natural Lipton Iced Tea

I have a household of tea lovers. During our short but sweet summer, my husband lives on the Lipton Cold Brew tea. This said, when I was offered the chance to try out the all-new natural Lipton Iced tea flavors, I jumped at the chance.

The teas contain tea, real sugar, natural flavors… no preservatives or artificial coloring or flavors!

The Flavors:

  • Iced Tea with Blueberry Pomegranate
  • Green Tea with Passionfruit Mango
  • Iced Tea with Lemon
  • Green Tea with Citrus
  • Diet Green Tea with Watermelon
  • Diet Green Tea with Citrus

I really enjoy all the new flavors, but I’m a simple girl at heart and the tea + lemon is my favorite. I have found myself reaching for tea instead of my beloved Diet Coke – WIN!

Giveaway:: Sex and the City 2

**UPDATE** Audrey, you are the winner! Congrats!

I love, love, LOVE Sex and the City. It is one of my all-time favorite shows. I have watched all six seasons of it. I have the first movie sitting on my counter from Netflix, and since I am all by my lonesome this evening, I was going to finally get to watching it. (Until I told my husband and he said HE wanted to watch it, too.)

Well, now the second movie is out and theaters and I have some catching up to do! I was sent the movie soundtrack to review and popped it in my CD player on the way home from taking the kids to camp this afternoon.

The tracks are as follows:

1. Alicia Keys “Rapture”
2. Dido “Everything to Lose”
3. Cee Lo “Language of Love”
4. Erykah Badu “Window Seat”
5. Natacha Atlas “Kidda”
6. Michael McGregor “Euphrates Dream”
7. Liza Minnelli “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”
8. Ricki-Lee “Can’t Touch It”
9. Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down”
10. Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis “Love Is Your Color”
11. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon “I Am Woman”
12. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “If Ever I Would Leave You”
13. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Sunrise, Sunset”
14. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Till There Was You”
15. Shayna Steele, Jordan Ballard, Kamilah Marshall “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered”
16. Liza Minnelli with Billy Stritch “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”
17. Cyndi Lauper “True Colors”
18. Aaron Zigman “Divas and Dunes”

My top 3 tracks were the Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind (part II), Cyndi Lauper, and “Sunrise, Sunset.” I have to say, a lot of the album I didn’t really care for. It wasn’t really my style and didn’t really do much for me. I felt like I totally needed to be bellydancing or something in order to really appreciate the music.

Who knows, though, it may be right up your alley! There is only one way to find out… buy the album here or win a copy!

Thanks to One2One Network, I have a copy of the Sex and the City 2 soundtrack to giveaway! To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment below telling me your favorite song at this moment. For an extra entry, tweet about this giveaway using this link:  .

Contest will run through Wednesday night at 11:59 pm Pacific time. One winner will be randomly chosen and announced the following day! Good luck!

Full disclosure: One2One Network provided a copy of the SATC2 soundtrack for me and one for giveaway. My opinions are my own!
