grabbing life by the horn{worm}s

Does it seem to you that time is flying by at epic speeds? Or is it just me?

I’ve been meaning to write about our trip to Florida. How the massive crowds at the theme parks made me want to stab people, but then the last few days at our favorite beach town soothed my soul {and feet}.

I was planning on writing about how awesome the kids did in school this year. They are some smart little cookies, you know.

I had intentions of writing about foster care. We are officially a licensed foster family now, since April. We waited and waited for our phone to ring, and wouldn’t you know it, as we were in Florida going through the security line for Disney World, we got a call for two little girls. It didn’t work out and they weren’t placed with us, but a few weeks ago, we finally had our first placement. She is the most adorable baby and we are enjoying loving on her!

Did I mention that I survived another year of the three-kids’-birthdays-in-five-days week? Just barely. We pulled it off, though, and I now have TWO teenagers. Lord, help me.

Our oldest is taking his driver’s road test next week. Lord, help me.

Oh, and today I discovered these beasts {tomato hornworms} mooching off my tomato plants. Okay, more like devouring them. What the hell. Don’t mess with my tomaters.

So, like I said. I’ve been meaning to share all these things with you; but, I’m kind of tired. This having five kids thing is kind of exhausting. And awesome.

Happy Friday, friends! What’s new? Are you constantly running around trying to get things done and wishing there were more hours in the day, like I am?

Do people even READ my blog any more? I have noticed that when I don’t write a lot, the comments kind of taper off. Weird. Note to self: Write more blog posts. So, if you’re still around, say HEY! in the comments! What’s on your Christmas list? What are you doing for the holidays?

Here is my week, in iPhone photos:

Saturday morning, we were having our laid-back, lazy morning and I came across this post from one of my favorite ladies in the blogosphere. I cried. I read it to the twins, then might have cried just a little bit more.

The twins, looking at the photos in the post:

The twins and our “pig with a purpose”:

We got our hair done, my roots were getting dang skanky, and the twins were looking like they were born in the wrong decade:

We played with a box. A big box. There may or may not be a child in there during this photo.

Bridger has been busy singing his little heart out at 539 different concerts this week. We got to have our own special “lunch date” on a school day!

Do you like my outfit? Pajama pants? I channeled my inner-person-of-Walmart for that one. My shoes are pretty darn cute though. I have them in gray and brown.

Ashton’s campaign to raise money for clean water ended yesterday. His grand total for his 3 months of fundraising? $1,100.10. Pretty awesome, huh? Bridger is still actively collecting money for his CLEAN WATER FOR CHRISTMAS campaign. I swear, he was the easiest person to shop for this year! You can give back by clicking here to visit his page!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

where, oh where

 has all my time gone?

Things have just been crazy around here lately. It’s been winter for months. We have lots of snow. We are 8 days away from Christmas. Usually, I am frazzled and hurried this time of year, but this year it seems as though I have a relative calm about me. Taking it all in?

We have made it through the big Christmas dance show, the school Christmas shows, and snowstorms.

I went to Carrie Underwood with Erin, our Daughters, and our Moms.

And then we had a giant sleepover at my house. Who knew that Erin and I would have both received footed sock monkey pajamas for Christmas in years past??

Averie and I held an optical fashion show and are sporting some fabulous new specs that we probably will not wear all the time.

I have avoided Christmas baking so that I wouldn’t be tempted yet and have lost over 10 lbs since a month ago! Wish me luck – I plan on warming up the oven this weekend.

I have started (not finished) moving my office to the main floor, so that a certain child who needs a bit more supervision can have a bedroom on the second floor.

We have spent weekends at the rig and enjoyed Justin being on days off. Now he is back to work and preparing for our rig Christmas.

I am number one in my fantasy football league. I just like saying that. I’m in it for the win. Or to beat my husband, either one is fine by me.

Life has been pretty full, but it’s all good.
