Room Redo:: Twins

When we first bought this house almost 5 years ago, every wall was white. Or beige. No joke. I have been soooo overwhelmed at the thought of decorating, painting, or anything else. So much that I have done pretty much nothing until this year! Bit by bit, things have been coming together, walls have been getting painted, projects have been completed.

Back in 2007, I did add some vinyl decal-thingies to the twins’ walls, along with some red and blue striped vinyl. It was not bad, especially for their 4-year-old selves. But they aren’t four anymore. Time for an update.

For the past two weeks, I have been slaving away tearing decorations and posters off of the walls. We have been organizing toys, giving away boxes of stuff, and throwing away bags and bags of trash.

The colors (darker turquoise, limish-green, and orange-butterscotch trim) are totally wild, but they work GREAT together. Seriously!

Before (ignore the child-labor and jammies, please):

Not too bad for an amateur, huh? I must say the twins have NEVER played in their room this much and this nicely before. It’s well worth all the work I put into it!

Bad-Hair Carnival

Many of you were aware of my desperate tweets over the weekend about my hair gone wrong. Granted, it’s not easy to go back from dark brown to blonde. I have a lovely stylist that I have been using for oh, six or seven years, and she really is wonderful. She caters to my impulsive hair-coloring and cutting decisions.

She did what she could while trying not to fry my hair. I was okay with the finished product when I left the salon. I made an appointment to come back mid-March before Fitbloggin’ so that I could lighten up a bit more.

Then I got to the rig. My husband would not look me in the eyes. He smirked every time he glanced my way. Not good, people, not good. Have I mentioned that he was not a fan of my brunette-ness, either? I don’t know if it was the lighting in his shack on location or WHAT, but my hair looked positively orange. I texted my stylist, like any normal person would do, and said my life was over I wasn’t digging the color and could she please, PLEASE fit me in Monday morning.

I revisited and VOILA. Love it.

BUT… I know we have all had horrible haircuts and colors. I only wish I had photos of some of the best of mine. (Due to two house fires, I have limited photos from my years prior to age 16) If any of my family and friends are reading this, and you have photos of my glorious hair-stakes, please scan and send them to me. My freshman year in high school, before attending a Halloween party at Beth’s house, I decided to dye my hair temporarily with Rock-a-Dile red Kool-Aid. Only it wasn’t so temporary. I still had pink hair at Christmas. Or that same year, I decided to condition my hair overnight with CRISCO OIL. Omg. I went to school the next morning with my hair matted to my head from the grease. I have had some real doozies.

Here are a few that I do have evidence of:

That is me in the front row with the blond, poofy hair and side ponytail. That is my mom in the back row in the tie-dyed shirt.  Hmmmm…

And who can forget this lovely cut?

Another example of my extreme beauty:
