Damn You, Auto Correct:: Anderson Version

good luck with that one, buddy.

life rearranged

We had a pretty awesome week!

We packed, loaded up the coffin on top of the Ford, and set out on our Colorado adventure! We stopped along the way and grabbed my Dad, who was desperately in need of a break.

My husband is a die-hard Lions fan, so I had bought tickets for the Lions/Broncos game a few months back. He convinced Ashton to be a Lions fan, too, and the rest of us sported our Broncos gear!

The game was a blast! My husband might have claimed it was the best day ever… The Lions kicked some serious ass and after the game we and 70,000 other people tried to leave the stadium. Justin decided he and the boy would take a victory pedicab ride all the way back to our hotel. I made the pedal-er promise to take good care of my little one and off they went! My Dad, BB, Averie and I got in line behind, and I’m not exaggerating, 300 other people waiting for a cab. Five minutes later, the cop told us to go meet her down the block a little and she would help us out. We kept it on the down low, and snuck down the street. She inconspicuously wandered over to us and told us to back up a bit so the rest of the crowd couldn’t see us talking. The plan? She was going to talk to another cop and he would flag us a van-cab before it got to the mass of people. She talked to him, he gave us the nod, and two minutes later we were happily on our way back to the hotel. Seriously. We roll VIP like that.

We spent the next morning shopping the streets of downtown Denver. Bridger wore his costume, and the sign we had made. Totally heartwarming moment? A random {assumed homeless} man came up to me and gave me a handful of change for Bridger’s charity: water campaign. $2.47. How awesome and selfless is  that?

We trick-or-treated in a random neighborhood in Cheyenne the next night, as we made our way back home. The kids made a total haul.

Now, it’s back to the grind. We are trying to pull off a garage sale before the snow hits tomorrow, and I have nothing done. We are giving everything away for donations, and every cent will go to the boys’ charity: water projects!

My twins are raising money for charity: water:
Ashton’s Thrilling Drilling Campaign
Bridger’s Clean Water for Christmas Campaign

on monday, the kids and i packed up home-cooked food and drove two-and-a-half hours to deliver it to my husband who we haven’t seen since the beginning of the month.

then, we turned around and drove two-and-a-half hours home.

i passed this alongside the road, admired it, then flipped a u-turn on the highway to go back to it.

such lovely light.

Seriously Blah.

I’m just not overly happy right now. Maybe that’s why I am not blogging as much. I always like to paint the pretty picture and write about the fun and happy things and truthfully I am just not that pleasant lately. I am downright pissy.

My husband is on days off right now and we just cannot get along. It is so hard to adjust to each other when he is gone for a month at a time. He wants to just have fun and do nothing when he is home, which I am all for -to an extent. But there are a few things I need help with and a few things that need fixing that I just can’t do myself and I know that if they don’t get done, they will sit, unfinished, for another month. So my list with very few, not hard, things sits. Today is his last day off and he is golfing and drinking with friends. After a decade of being together, shouldn’t it be getting easier? Shouldn’t we have settled into that groove?

I find myself struggling with parenting our oldest son. It is a constant battle every day. Maybe it is because he is in that preteen stage. Maybe it is because he is my stepson. Maybe he just does it for attention. I honestly don’t know why he acts up so much and is so defiant when it comes to listening. It is very, very hard. He is going to a bible camp next week for a few days, so this will be good for both of us. He can relax and have fun with other kids his age and I can lighten up and destress for a few days.

Twenty days until school starts. I have a lot to get done and teach the twins before then. We need to work on buttoning, tying, writing, cutting, etc. This summer has flown by. I don’t know what I am going to do with myself once they are all in school. Our school district is an everyday, all day Kindergarten, so the twins will be gone the same hours as the older ones. I am hoping to “find myself” during this time. The last 10 years has been all about children and pregnancy. My entire 20s have been devoted to being a mother and a wife. I am not complaining, I just am starting to look forward to this next period of my life. I want to lose weight and get in shape before I turn the big 3-0 in January. I would like to take photography classes. I have lots I would like to do to our house -maybe even get on top of things instead of always feeling so far behind on everything. That would be a great feeling.

So family life is kind of sucky right now, but it is good to know that maybe, just maybe, there will be time to breathe in a few weeks.

Weekend at the Rig

We spent the weekend at the rig and are now back home. Didn’t do a whole lot, hung out, played Monopoly…

We have THREE of our kiddos having birthdays this week. Of course I waited until the absolute last minute to start planning anything like usual. I can’t believe my babies are going to be FIVE. How very sad.

Anyway, keeping this short… I have so much left to do for this busy week, not to mention unpacking all of our stuff from the weekend. And the weekend before. And Florida. You get the picture?! ;o)

My hubby called me yesterday to inform me that clouds were rotating above their location. FREAKY. They don’t exactly have basements to get into for safety or anything. And then he would say, “I’ll call you back”, and I would wait while thinking the worst. There was some nasty weather over there yesterday. Lots of hail, semis overturned on the side of the road… Check out his pictures on Flickr. Pretty cool!

Here are some more of my pics from the last week or so…

Send My Hubby Out…

To run errands with the kids, he comes home with a MAJOR Mother’s Day present. It’s big and red and a Yamaha. They bought me my own four-wheeler. Wow! I like it! ;o)

While they were gone, I spent 75 minutes for my long workout on the DREADMILL. (It is freezing out today and we woke up to snow on the ground!) I did 5.57 miles! I am totally patting myself on the back for this one!! That is the longest I have ever done on a treadmill! I am SO HAPPY I did it and got it done! Yay!!

Averie informed us the other day that Kane had “The Movie” at school last week. You know, THE movie. He was mortified and grossed out. I can’t believe we have a kid that old already!! Time flies. At least he doesn’t have to see the “girl movie” until next year! Hah!
Happy Weekend!
